The Baby Makers (part 2)
Linda Tanner – NHS Contracts Manager
How many people does it take to make a baby? Part two of The Baby Makers – profiling Linda Tanner, one of the team of 16 at Midland Fertility, who helped patients Laura and Chris to have baby Amber.
Linda is part of the patient first contact team. She takes enquiries from private patients but also liaises with CCGs (the NHS clinical commissioning groups) to help patients to access funding where possible.
Linda received Laura and Chris’s referral from their CCG and was the first to check over their returned patient questionnaire to assess eligibility for NHS funding. According to NHS criteria, Laura and Chris were eligible for one treatment cycle, so Linda informed the couple of their entitlement. Once Laura and Chris were ready to go ahead with their first appointment, Linda advised the clinical team about the funding for treatment so it was all in place before their first visit and tests before their ICSI treatment would begin.
