Fertility Investigation Package
The MFS Fertility Investigation Package (FIP) is a comprehensive investigation of both male and female partners for the most common causes of infertility. It offers more thorough testing than ‘home-test’ kits and also includes ultrasound scans and tests to check the patency of Fallopian tubes. The MFS FIP is available to couples who have not had an initial consultation or follow-up consultation.
Who can benefit from the FIP?
The FIP is recommended to couples who have been trying to conceive for:
- two years where the woman is under 35 years old, or
- one year if the woman if more than 35 years old
What is included in the FIP?
The FIP includes:
- a consultation with an MFS fertility specialist
- the appropriate combination of the following tests and investigations:
- measurement of the FSH hormone level and of the FSH:LH hormone ratio
- measurement of the AMH level as part of the ovarian reserve assesment
- an ovarian ultrasound scan to perform an antral follicle count
- HyCosy testing for open (patent) Fallopian tubes
- a semen analysis
- counselling (if appropriate)
- a review of the test results and a discussion of future options
How long does treatment take?
The FIP may require two or more appointments at MFS in a month.
The results
The results may either identify treatable problems which are preventing pregnancy occurring or they may reassure the couple that they have a good chance of conceiving naturally.
