Welcome to this special 19th birthday issue of the MFS e-news
Despite the wind and the rain, 500 patients, grandparents, babies, toddlers, growing kids and other friends and family joined the celebrations to mark our 19th birthday.
The mini-marquees may have had to be dismantled because they were buckling in the wind, and wellie boots were preferable to party shoes, but we all enjoyed catching up with some familiar faces and some gorgeous new ones! having our faces painted (yes, adults too!), balloon bending and dancing to the steel band.
We welcomed Lola June Turley, the 3,500th baby born after treatment at MFS and many of you braved the drizzle for the customary group photograph what a contrast to the shorts, T-shirts and dark glasses of previous years!
You can read the stories of some of the party guests in Made In Aldridge and view the party picture gallery in this issue.
Many thanks to our sponsors Pharmasure, RI, Hunter Scientific, Cook and MediCult who helped make the day such a success.
The next e-news will be issued in late November, so don’t forget to send in your dedications and pictures of birthdays and other special dates between 1st September and 31st December for ‘Today’s the Day’, including all those ‘first/new school day’ stories. And if any of your MFS ‘babies’ got their GCSE results last month, why not share the good news with us!
Finally, make a date in your TV diary to watch Inside Out on BBC1 Midlands at 7.30pm on Monday 23rd October (may be subject to change) which includes the wonderful egg donation story of an MFS couple and their gorgeous twin daughters. Some fairly amazing MFS nurses also take us through an egg collection procedure, so if you cant watch it, set your DVD player to ‘record’.
We hope you enjoy the newsletter and welcome your feedback. And if you’ve found it a good read, why not tell a friend?
